Brooklyn artist The Process‘ single “My Soul”, assisted by Renaissance X, provides thoughtful lyricism and a heartfelt sound that immerses the listener from the get-go. Inspired by classic East Coast hip-hop, The Process began by writing poetry and random lines on notepads, until his friend and mentor Renaissance X approached him about turning my writing into music. Since, he has built a discography of emotive, lyrically-focused offerings, and “My Soul” is no different.
“My Soul” opens with passionate, spacey backing vocals and reverb-soaked guitars, before rich 808s drop in to create a solid foundation for The Process’ vocals. His verses begin with hip-hop stylings before building dynamically into a punk-influenced refrain that provides explosive energy. Memorable in its ability to blend genres together, “My Soul” is an eclectic track that finds The Process showcasing his lyrical capabilities atop emotive production.
Overall, “My Soul” makes for an infectious, genre-bending offering from New York’s The Process and Renaissance X.
